Patrick Corrigan is one of Australia’s most important art collectors and philanthropists, and this clearly resonated with buyers at Deutscher + Hackett’s timed online sale of 60 photographs from the magnate’s collection.

Chris Deutscher pointed out that the Pat Corrigan provenance had been important to many of their buyers, and new records were set for several individual iconic Australian photographs, even though photography can be somewhat of a hit and miss affair in the Australian auction room.

Max Dupain’s Meat Queue (Lot 17 ) achieved its highest price at auction at $15,000.

David Moore’s Sisters of Charity, Washington DC, sold for $16,000 hp (Lot 34 ), whilst his Migrants Arriving in Sydney (Lot 38 ) sold for $19,000 hp, which is now the highest price for David Moore at auction.

Carol Jerrems’ Juliet Holding ‘Vale Street’ (Lot 57 ) sold for $26,000 hp. Smith & Singer had sold the same image on 20th November 2019 for $25,000 hp.

In all, the Pat Corrigan photography collection achieved an impressive 97% sale rate by numbers and a very successful 225% sale by value, continuing the run of exceptional online art sales for a number of Australian art auctioneers in recent months.
