Born in Wellington in 1938, Gary Tricker is a self-taught painter and printmaker. He worked as a graphic artist for the Tourist, Government Printer and Education Department for 18 years before becoming a full-time printmaker in 1976. An often figurative painter, he exhibited with the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts in 1962 and 1963 and with The Group in 1970. he has twice been the recipient of Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council award.
