Born in Sierra Leone in 1965 Patricia Piaainini arrived in Australia in 1972. She graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts in 1991. A painter, photographer and assemblage artist she works with thematic series. She has exhibited widely in both solo and group shows and is represented in several state and provincial collections and in 2003 she represented Australia at the 50th Venice Biennale. She lives and works in Melbourne and is widely recognised as one of Australia’s leading contemporary artists.
