An Aboriginal watercolourist, Edwin Pareroultja was born in 1918 at Hermannsburg near Alice Springs. A member of the Arunta Tribe and an outstanding athlete, he did not begin painting until 1943. He held his first exhibition of central Australian landscapes in Melbourne in 1946.
