Maureen O'Shaughnessy was born in 1962 and grew up in Melbourne before moving to Sydney where she completed her tertiary studies at University of New South Wales and the University of Technology, Sydney. She is an artist, writer, poet, novelist and actor. An impressionist landscape artist, she has also taught creative writing and English at a tertiary level, written poetry winning the Gwen Harwood Poetry Prize in 2010 and published a number of novels. She lives in rural France.
