Born in Melbourne in 1930, Desmond Norman is an art teacher and has worked as an art therapist. His early paintings were stylised realistic pictures of buildings and landscapes. In 1966 he exhibited a series of pictures on the theme of 'Daisy Bates' the Aboriginal welfare worker.
We have records of art auction sales by Desmond Norman from 1967 and in total 61 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 42 (69%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $6,572 for Miss Daisy Bates Feeding the Birds sold by Mossgreen Auctions in October 2006. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023. Works by Desmond Norman are held by the National Gallery of Victoria.
