Born in Sydney in 1943, Peter Hickey studied at the Nationa Art School in 1963, the Royal Art Society School in 1968 and in London, Tokyo and California. He returned to Australia in 1974 and opened a workshop in Sydney and opened an etchers workshop in Sydney. In 1994 moved to the United States and he was invited to be an Artist in Residence at the Kala Institute in Berkeley, California. He later retuned to Australia and now lives and works in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. A teacher and printmaker, he has exhibited widely in Australia and overseas since 1974. He is a member of the Printmakers Council, London.
