About H. Edward Davies
Born in England in 1853, H. Edward Davies arrived in Australia as an infant in 1854. He became an artist and architect, and was the chief draughtsman in the South Australian Education Department. He became Honorary Curator of the Adelaide Gallery and Chairman of the Board of Management of the Public Art Gallery and Museum of South Australia.
The total number of works by H. Edward Davies offered for sale by auction since 1967 is 27, of which 15 (56%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $2,145 for Towards Mt.
